Just thinkin this morning as I’m crocheting, that crocheting is my personal Default Setting. When I have to surrender to the sofa, recliner, bed unable to “do” for awhile. Most often I am able to crochet. I love to crochet. I love the feeling of soft yarn and smooth hook in my hands. I like watching one row join others knowing they will become something…something useful, something pretty, warm and cozy.
In the moments when I realize that I have to give up the “doing” of the day, sadness descends. Then, I remember…I can crochet.
What’s your Personal Default Setting?
Hi Kerry
I am usually able to read….but the past 2 days has brain fog causing that to be a problem too….I am thinking of knitting again…using wool as I react to arcrylic…I used to knit hats and scarves…maybe it is time to venture out!
Enjoy your crocheting, as you bond with your sofa and recliner.
From my sofa to yours ~ God bless and thanks for the cyber hugs recently! They were much needed.
Puttering in my gardens. If I am too sick to do anything, I sit and watch the fish in the ponds or the chickens perambulating around the gardens, or I just lay on the grass. Even late at night, I find solace in the garden room, potting plants or pruning.
Susie Collins´s last blog ..Apples and oranges: Do I or don’t I get an H1N1 vaccine?
Mine in rag rug making if I am up to it, I always have one on the go but it can take me months to finish!!!!!!!
At least if i only manage a few centimetres I feel industrious!
I like your blog, just found it!
I too have me/cfs. 10years now.
Susie, what a heavenly default setting. Laying on the grass under the sun or moon, in island temperatures. Can I fly over and join you?
Hi Zarla, Glad to meet ya. Rag rugging… yes that is an industrious one! How big are the rugs that you make? I love the reuse of old material and garments that are a part of rag-rugging.
Enjoyed your comment about Eeyore not putting on a of tea when he does visit you…imagine if you begged him, he do so grumblin through the whole process….not so much because of the energy expenditure but because he thinks he sucks at making tea.
Renee, I can sure relate to reading being overly taxing at times of cognitive exhaustion. It used to be my default setting…awesome to travel into another world, thoughts, ideas. I’m glad you can read most of the time and hope you are feeling up to it soon.
Knitting takes more physical exertion that crocheting because you have use more muscles of the arms. What do you like to knit Renee? I find that anything creative…any thing we make with our hands, our fingers, whatever works sure is good for the spirit.
More cyberhugs to ya Renee. It’s Saturday…gotta to get over to your blog and read your “Saturday Scribbles” which I always enjoy.
Kerry,
Good to make contact. I make fairly small rugs as they can be too large and cumbersome to work on. If I want to make a larger one i split it into patches then sew them together like a quilt.
I hope things are going OK for you, I am having some success getting the awareness up among my friends at the moment. Your site is one I have asked them to cast their eye over. Do you know of any other really good M.E./CFS for dummies pages I can direct them to.
I thought it was about time i ‘came out’ so to speak, and stopped just getting on with my life quietly, smiling and replying to THAT question with, “yeah
i’m fine”.
It feels good to know that some of my friends are beginning to understand a little.
I’ll keep reading the blogs-keep em coming !!!!!!
