I still am
despite this
with this
fighting this
under this
molded
burned
touched
taught
humbled by this
uninvited illness
engraved upon my life
not yet named
not yet understood
I still am
here
loving
laughing
feeling
thinking
creating
dreaming
enduring
I still am
a soul born into an
awesome, mysterious
wonderful and sometimes
cruel and unjust world
Despite this
with this
under this
fighting this
humbled by this
I still am
and I will not
give up

Wow, great poem Kerry….are you part of the creative for a second journal project? Journals are being sent to people all over the world with M.E./CFS and you can use a couple pages for an artistic peice…..your poetry would be great for it.

Thank all of you for being here to share with,
It means an extra lot to me on days like today when reading and being on the computer are difficult. I learn just how much our online connection means to me as I find myself thinking of all of you, along with finding pictures in the texture of my bedroom ceiling. Thinking of doing a post soon, on just that, sharing the images we find on our ceilings, when that’s all we’re able to do.
Okay off the computer again, before my husband catches me. Days like today using my noggin to read and write and look into a computer screen worsens my illness…consequently this increases my needs…and makes a lot more work for my husband to do.
The next time you’re “ceiling painting” remember the images so you can share them.
PS. Zarla, is the journal really on the way? Think I’ll stop looking for images on the ceiling and turn my thoughts to what I’m putting in the journal. Upnorth, I’ve planned on using a poem or too and feel affirmed in that by your suggestion. Thanks!

Beautiful Kerry. Yes, the world is mysterious — sometimes awesome, sometimes cruel and unjust. Thanks for posting this.
Love the poem, simple but says what it needs to say very effectively.
I was actually considering doing a painting about living with illness in which i try to re-create the beautiful patterns i used to get on the bedroom ceiling when i had curtains and an extra piece of fabric draped over it to cut out the light!!!
I now have a black-out blind, which does not cut out all light either but is an improvement; but there are no nice patterns any more!

Ashy, Love the way you found the beauty in your ceiling. ..enough to inspire painting. I think I’ve found all the images I can on mine, so perhaps I should take it from you and now look for designs.
Black out curtain sounds great. How we need to be able to remove all stimulation when our CNS gets overloaded. My bedroom curtains we made from a duvet cover. Its dark brown and two layers thick. When fully closed, they block out all light…thankfully.

I hope you find yourself in better health again soon Kerry, and yes chuck…. the journal has 3 people to go through then it’s all yours! When I got it you were the next on the address list, but i was sent an updated address list to paste into it, and now you’re a little further down!
I was looking forward to sending you a little message in it, but t’was not to be!
Thinking of you, realised things might be a little challenging as you weren’t in cyber-space!
Take care, rest!
